VACANCY – PART-TIME CASHIER

Garden Stirling Burnet Solicitors Ltd have a vacancy for a Part-Time Cashier working 3 days per week with flexibility to cover holiday periods. Based in our Haddington Office, you will be joining a busy department, dealing with multiple branch offices. You should have the ability to work within a team and be able to demonstrate excellent numeracy skills

Duties to Include:-

  • To enter postings to the accounts system on a daily basis
  • To ensure that all banking is done daily as directed
  • To ensure that all receipts and payments are posted on correct accounts daily
  • Draw client and office cheques
  • Preparing bank reconciliations
  • Completing inter account transfers
  • Processing of all bank payments via CHAPs, BACS, International Transfers, etc.
  • Maintaining designated client deposit accounts
  • Processing invoices
  • Dealing with fee earner enquiries
  • Producing month end and year end reports
  • Credit Control
  • Ensure that all transactions are compliant with Law Society of Scotland Account Rules
  • Process VAT returns
  • To manage own work allocation, productivity and quality of work with minimum supervision
  • Provide cover for other accounting functions as requested
  • Other duties as delegated from time to time

Ideally you should have the following:-

  • SOLAS Qualification
  • Understanding of Law Society of Scotland Account Rules
  • Understanding of AML & GDPR rules and regulations
  • Excellent IT Skills

SOLAS Qualified Technical Assistant

Due to the continued success and growth of the business, Denovo have a vacancy for a SOLAS qualified individual who will provide cashier technical support, consultancy assistance, and training to our clients.  The successful candidate will also help and assist our clients who are experiencing difficulty with both cashroom based queries and with general computing/cloud based queries.    The company’s client base consists primarily of Scottish solicitors which require the very best highest levels of support.

The ideal candidate will have experience working for a Scottish legal firm - we require the candidate to have knowledge of main areas of cashroom duties, such as client & firm postings, float calculations, bank reconciliations, VAT calculations and also monthly / yearly reporting.    In addition, we expect the candidate to have a very thorough working knowledge of computerised systems and Windows operating systems.  An understanding of how Cloud based systems and applications operate would be beneficial but is not essential for the role as training will be given.   The candidate will have a confidence when dealing with people at all levels and must demonstrate a high degree of autonomy.

The ideal candidate will enjoy a diverse role where he/she will be required to work in a busy environment and assist clients in a polite and timeous manner.   Full training will be given on how to answer technical calls, call logging and how to remedy all queries efficiently.  The successful person will have the ability to work on their own initiative and will be expected to take ownership of queries through to completion.   The ideal candidate will be very customer/client focussed and enjoys providing an excellent level of service.

This is a full time position.  The hours are from 9am to 5.30pm.  Salary dependent on experience.

The successful candidate will be experienced in all aspects of Executry Administration including:

  • Investigation and compiling Inventory of Deceased’s Estate
  • Completion of HMRC Inheritance Tax Forms and Applications for Confirmation
  • Dealing with all correspondence on assets and liabilities
  • Realisation and Transfer of Assets
  • Settling Estate debts and payments to beneficiaries

Prior Experience and STEP qualifications preferred although not essential.
